UNU/IAS, in collaboration with NIES, will host its second roundtable
discussion on climate change, exploring key issues surrounding the
implementation and the future negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol. This will
take place on Thursday 9 May at UNU/IAS. In this roundtable discussion,
implementation strategies of Japan and EU, problems of sinks as an
implementation measure and future negotiation issues such as the absence of
the US will be explored. The roundtable discussion will bring together
representatives from the IPCC, NIES, government and foreign embassies in
Japan. Experts from academia, representatives from industry and NGOs will be
invited. This event features key note speakers such as Dr Robert Watson,
Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), from the
World Bank, Professor Norman Myers from Green College, Oxford University and
Hideaki Shiroyama, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Law & Politics,
